A weekly rehearsal schedule is maintained. Although we work hard, we try to make our rehearsals fun and a joy to be at. Since the focus of the band has changed, our instrumental needs are limited. You must be able to sight read. Please contact us for information.
We were organized in December 2002 as the Owego Community Band and played our first concert of traditional Christmas music in December 2003 in the Court House Square Gazebo in downtown Owego, NY. We performed a number of programs throughout the year 2003 and 2004. Our membership has outgrown the gazebo capacity so our 2004 and 2005 Christmas programs were presented at "Tioga Trails Cafe" where we performed traditional Christmas music as well as other selections.
In December of 2006, along with "Tioga Trails Cafe", we presented a Chirstmas Ball at the Cafe. It was a Saturday night affair and was attended by more than 70 people. It was a great dance night and a good time was had by all.
We do not do parades. We are available for social affairs, festivals and indoor programs where good listening and dance music is desired. Our program includes some old standards such as "Moonlight Serenade", "Stardust", and "In the Mood", and lasts approximately 2 hours. Our ideal performance time is Friday's from 7 - 9 PM.
